Every number on RewardsWise traces back to a dated source. This page explains where the point valuations come from, how the award calculator reads the Aeroplan chart, and how the bonus calculator scores welcome offers.
Point valuations
Cents-per-point valuations are RewardsWise's own estimate, sourced from tripwinego.com valuation article (post 4369) and last updated 2026-06-30, verified for this build on 2026-08-10. These are not the issuer's stated value — they reflect realistic redemption value based on the flights we actually book for clients.

Award calculator
Distance is calculated as the great-circle (haversine) distance between airport coordinates, in miles. That distance is matched against Air Canada's published Aeroplan Flight Reward Chart, verified as of 2026-08-10, to find the correct travel zone and distance band. Partner-airline points are the chart's fixed value for that band; Air Canada's own flights are dynamically priced and shown only as a "starting at" figure. Tax and carrier-surcharge estimates are static ranges per zone and are estimates only — always confirm the exact figure at checkout.
Welcome bonus calculator
Each card's welcome bonus can be split into multiple spend tiers. A tier only counts if your entered monthly spend, projected across that tier's qualifying period, would clear its spend threshold; tiers you would miss are shown but excluded from the total, and the card is ranked lower as a result. Tiers whose offer has already expired are removed automatically. Point and dollar values use the valuations above; WestJet Rewards is calculated at its stated dollar-for-dollar value. Card data verified as of 2026-08-10.

Chart, card and valuation data are re-verified periodically. The verification date shown on every page reflects the last check for that specific data set.
